Macrophone

Macrophone: noun. A device that converts sounds into electrical signals, unlike a microphone these devices are enormous and are only capable of detecting sounds at a volume that standard speakers are unable to reach. Similar, smaller, devices that would allow extremely loud noises to be recorded can be made but they are not truly macrophones but are modified microphones, similarly a 10m by 10m by 10m that was capable of recording sounds at volumes that can by recorded by the average microphone would be a modified macrophone.
