Amarang

Amarang: noun. The archaic word for anagram. This word has been in use from the very first recorded occurrence of anagrams until the late nineteenth century, when some wits from the Movement for the Rationalisation of the English Language thought that by converting amarang into anagram, they would make the word sound more like what it meant. However, after the previous name for the word dropped out of common use and no one remembered it anymore, the idea behind the new one was forgotten and the English speaking populace could not appreciate the ingeniousness of the invention.
