Anquere verb. To attack and conquer. Only places can be anquered, not persons or things. Places such as castles and cities are the most common victims of anquering as they often hold valuables worth taking. The word was first used by by King Francis I of France, when he fought against the Holy Roman Empire, led by Charles V, and having allied himself with Suleiman the Magnificent attempted to anquere some of Charles' vast territories.
